Meningitis Outbreak on Cruise Ship MSC Orchestra
Yesterday, Oct. 8, it was reported that 4 crew members aboard the MSC Orchestra had contracted and were being treated for bacterial meningitis infections.
The potential for crew member injury and illness is an ever present concern when hundreds or thousands of both crew and passengers are aboard cruise ships for extended periods.
Cruise lines across the world mandate best practices and procedures to deal with possible outbreaks of a variety of contagious diseases that can transfer rapidly within the relatively confined spaces of cruise vessels.
